How about this for a virus warning:
Today we have received messages from BMI-baby which contain a virus. The virus should have been removed but please be vigiliant & delete these emails & do not open them.
Please can users not use the BMI-baby website for the next few days, as any download has the potential of containing this virus.

I would say it's a prank program he's installed by mistake.. There is loads of fake virus's and prank programs that turn the screen upside down.. Tell him to look in the startup menu or task manager for any odd programs, or use regedit and check the run programs there too.. Theres only a few virus's that I can find that turn the screen upside down but unless he uses OLD, old programs it's unlikely to be these..
Oh yea.. also. KEEP your virus def's well upto date if you d/load a lot, there's a new virus that re-writes the CMOS!!!!
CMOS.a / .b maybe

It is a dangerous memory resident stealth boot virus. It corrupts the CMOS memory. On loading from an infected disk the virus copies itself to the address 9F80:0000, hooks INT 13h and writes itself to the MBR of the hard drive.. On a reboot the virus re-programs the BIOS and resets the computer.. causing it to become unbootable..
