I have just got a new graphics card and ran 3dMark '03
I scored 5200, then used the 'coolbit' program included to overclock it and got scores between 5800 - 6100.
Is that a decent score considering my system?
would extra RAM improve performance when playing games?
Your help is appreciated!

Hi there,
Yes, i'd say that was just about spot on. I've got an XFX 5900 XT card in my machine and I scored 5122. That was on a freshly built PC without overclocking. 3D Mark looks like it's running poorly at some stages, but I guess thats cos it's stressing your gfx card.
I reckon you got a good score there m8.
:)
p.s. Extra ram always makes things better! Try to get good branded memory like Corsair or summat.
Nice score there m8,
Thou if u want to make it a nice solid system.
You could add another 512 RAM and it would make the games load up quicker e.t.c :P

Yip, considering that if u r using winxp (JT calm down m8), it uses up almost half of your 512Mb on system stuff alone, so essentially you only have 256Mb for games, not enough. Game loading speed is greatly increased if you have a gig of ram.

Thanks for all the feedback!!!
I am off to portugal for the euro footy championships soon so will be a little skint, but will definetly invest in another 512MB when i get back!
I presumed it was an o.k score when I compared it on-line with other 3d mark'03 users, but it's always nice to get a second opinion!!!!
Cheers! |toungue|
