Playing a elf swordmaster Leestat on above server, and for me the game is awesome, done a few Public quests and they are great fun, PVP was good fun the battleground was quick and fairly close. And so far none of the actual quests seem to be grinding.
I am putting wow down for know and going to stick with WAR

Well I was hoping for it to be good, I hoped it would be good enough to take me away from WoW, and I fairly sure it has.
Servers launched at 3pm, Immediately logged in and created a Swordmaster Elf. As of course you start in a area with a few quests which are all completed very quickly and you get moved to the next area.
At this point I stopped the graphics are not as good as Age of conan but better than WoW. The actual attack animations and spells I really like plus with all the little enhancements like the tome of knowledge, which took the idea from Lord of the rings but made it alot better is really cool.
So the 3rd quest i got to try out a siege catapult which was like a mini game, you get a cross-hair and have to shoot things. The next quests was asking me to compete in a Battleground.
Basically a simple Battleground with 2 stone obelisks which you have to activate to control and that releases the wrath of khaine. PvP is already a little organised with front lines being dps and Tanks, and behind you we have magic users and archers. It artificially enhances your level to 8 so as not to get owned straight away and you try to break through the ranks ot go after the evil magic users. And my first PVP we won putting my rank up to level 3 and my pvp level up to 2. Was quick and over in like 20mins.
And the best thing you can join the PvP queue where ever you are and it drops you back in the same place you left.
Then I got my first taste of a public Quest which was good fun, not hugely organised but it only lasts about 25mins killing various things and then a big Heroic Hydra spawned, The first time I did it I was 3rd in contribution but my loot roll had me just below the prizes. The 2nd time I did it I got a silver reward which was some armour. But by that time I had enough Influence with the captain of the area to get the 2nd tier out of 3 rewards and I could buy from the renown merchant.
All in all a fun first go, and I am now cancelling my wow account and frankly even with the expansion I dunno if I will be back to it this year.

All sounds pretty wicked! I think I burned out on WoW again levelling. If I did anything it would be as a healer as I actually found DPS as a priest pretty boring.
Damn, i'll need a new sig now!!!

I have invested too much time/money into WoW to quit the game, so I will be sticking to WotLK as I have lots of things I wanna do when that game comes out.
You will be back to WoW Lee I know you will, no one ever quits WoW.
And I cannot understand why you have chosen to go onto the good side in Warhammer.

Well I had a marathon Play session yesterday, found 2 bugs which for a game launch is pretty amazing. One was I crashed to desktop once, In 9 hours total play that is very good, and my sword was kinda stuck in its sheathe, I was fighting like it wasn't.
My 2nd day of playing and leveling my character to level 9 was even better than my first. Public Quests are just the way forward. Any game that doesn't adopt them is not going to eb a game for me, People work together because it naturally makes you it gives you xp and frankly if you did that with pvp you would never have to do normal pve quests if you are so inclined.
I also got my first morale ability which is a bar you fill up and has a staged release when you hit the ability so my first one is a bleed that hits for 55 every second for 13 seconds. I spent my pvp rank points in toughness. And I am yet to even start on my talent tree at level 10.
Not once yet in the game have i been bothered about travelling somewhere to complete some quest and not once yet has it seemed a grind to me.
Can't wait till thursday when I am off work and can play alot.

What I like most is I was able to jump straight into a rvr match on my newly created marauder, get boosted to around lvl 8 when the game starts (only statwise) and kill people and not feel like a total gimp hampering my team. The boost is a nice idea.
The tome is also great, I hope other games follow suit with alot of the things they put into this game.
The funniest bugs I've encountered are the player models, one time my chosen was permanently staring at the ground, even when he was attacking or running around and just yesterday my marauder had a permanent scowl and was always in the combat stance. I also saw someone "surfing" along the ground with their face, lying down.
All in all, I think it's a pretty sweet game and it'll take some of my wow time for sure but I don't think I'd ever leave wow to play it fulltime.

I really should have read up on this. You use the key they send you and the open beta client. Downloading now and it'll be done in 24 hours. woopee.
*edit* tip: If you do this, try different speed settings. They allow very high uploads which screws your download. For me 2Mb runs fastest as it squishes the upload down to 20KB.

I gave up on the ****e WAR downloader and got it from Gamershell in the end. Only took 5 hours once I used them which is far better than the 30 hours it was showing before that.
I installed and patched it this morning so should be on later! Can you have chars on both sides of the WAR on the same server?

On both counts....who knows!!!? All I can say is if your considering it you'd be better off doing it sooner rather that later. Me, Zy, Clus & Lee are all going to be playing it to varing degree's I think.

You can roll different factions on different servers yeah, theres queues on some servers at the moment so logging on can take a while sometime.
I enjoy the game , the start is very easy to get into the quests are layed out so you progress from battlefield to battlefield and rarely have to backtrack or visit past zones.
The pvp stuff is mostly just zerg fests at the moment and I feel some classes are overpowered at low levels, but then again I haven't reached a high enough level to take part in the keep sieges or mess around with a powerful character.
Though I did manage to nuke a few elves with a cannon yesterday which was enjoyable.
I'm not sure how the pve side is, I haven't done any dungeons yet or instances.
The tradeskill's look pretty ****ty at the moment and from what I seen near enough every item you looks the same, though you can dye them.

OK got the CE for connor yestarday and we finally installed the game and got him up and running on Axe server.
The packaging (contents) for the CE is just excellent, 10/10 from me. Now the game:
Graphics are very nice better than WoW I must admit that. But the game for some reason just doesn't seem to gell with me (I am gutted about that, I thought this game would get me hooked tbh).
The animation and the fight movements are in my opinion just piss poor, wow has so much better animation and character movements. This is a big let down for me.
Things i do like so far is the tomb of knowledge and public quests these are just excellent.
But so far I am not a fan of the game, I should receive my CE today but I will not open it yet. Gonna let connor play on WAR for a little and continue to to view his progress.
I guess It's very hard for any game to get me off WoW (it's just so well polished).

Thats wierd i think the character animations on my swordmaster, drinking potions, hold the line and general attacks are so much better, in fact it is great how i flip the sword and move from normal to perfect dance.
Hold the line is brilliant I crouch behind the shield avoiding 50% of the damage while buffing everyone who is behind me and healers have a chance to overheal me.
PvP I am level 14 now and moved onto Tier 2 battle grounds which are ebetter than the tier 1 BGs, Order are winning 50% but in RvR destruction are winning but then we seem to be working on pqs more.
Every day I play this and I can see that I want to play more characters and do more stuff.

Well I still think it seems too much like Guildwars to me, the fighting just doesn't flow as well as WoW. It's a bit robotic.
Trying to play another MMO after 3 years of WoW is not easy you know. Bring on WotLK.:)

Vince,
Bear in mind that you came to WOW after it had been released for a year. WOW was bugged to **** when it first released.
Most of the animations etc we release after the initial release.

Got my collectors edition which is fantastic very nice well worth the £50.
Yeah I remember trying to log into wow when it was first released 45 min. queues I actually quit after 2 weeks the game was so ****. Specially after coming from EQ2 that was far more polished.
On that note i am thinking of selling my shaman lvl 70, tier 4/5 gear, enhance spec, pvp, glad gear, 1.5k gold and loads of stuff in bank. If any one is interested, also a warlock level 39 on bladefist.

The only thing that bugs me really is the jumpyness of the game. I get definate pauses when moving about as it loads up new area's (I presume) I might try and play with the settings to see if that helps but it seems like it's just the way it is.
Gameplay though it seems very good. Have only played to about 5 but liking it so far.
