I want this Soltek box (http://www.soltek-computer.de/soltek/product/qbic.php?isbn_st=SL-B8E-F&qisbn_st=EQ3401) with Intel Pentium 4 "Northwood" 3.0GHz (800FSB) with HT Technology - Retail, and some of this Corsair 512MB DDR XMS3200C2PT Platinum CAS2.

Going to put in my Radeon 9800, and install win2k. I know ive been here before but want to make doubly sure before I splash out. Going to put a Seagate Cheetah SCSI LVD in it too.

Comments and suggestions please.

but it never drops under the 160

Point 2 - AMD rules (with JT on this one)

Point 3 - QBic chipset - Intel 865G + ICH5. Theres a reason why I am always first onto a server, and that is nVidia dual channel chipset on my Shuttle, along with some nice Corsair memory. Cant beat it.

"You are only as fast as your slowest component"... you can chuck whatever processor you want at it, without decent memory and mobo your in trouble.

Nice machine though, everyone to his own.

aye i agree goldvonmember!! have seen a avi on a stolen NEW AMD processor and mainboard, it supposedly breaks the 4 gig mark, but!!! it has a heatsink like a breeze block, the people that stole and videod it had to wear protective gloves just to take the heat sink off , cuz after about twenty mins of running it one of them tried to remove it and it burned his hands ( all on the footage) and when they had finally removed it they wanted to test for heat that the processor had put out so being great techs!!! they fried an egg on it LMFAO @ AMD!! they then sent the footage to AMD lol.....

but on the other hand goldie if you like a system that hangs, has no on board chipsets to compliment the processor or just like fast food alla mainboard cuisine ( oh and is cheap as chips) lol, go for your local radiator that is AMD!!!

Not to start a processor argument, but my 2800xp runs using a Shuttle heat pipe, very quiet and NO crashes. The voted best processor pound for process is the 2500xp, and most will overclock using original fan cooling without any crashes.

Difference with price is because you are not paying the "Intel Inside" sticker.

PS - MHYV, that thing about breaking the 4Ghz milestone was done using a P4 first, then using an AMD. Differnce being you seen the cooler on the AMD, but they had to use liquid nitrogen on the P4. 4Ghz processors just arn't practical yet.

Not to mention that even though the numbering system on AMD is crap, they still outperform Intel chips running at a faster speed.
