Ayup. Im gonna get me a shuttle system this week and wanted to know what to go for, there are loads around at the moment,

I want 3Ghz+, 1Gig RAM and a shuttle with AGP x8 support and firewire?

Im going to put in my 9800 and use win2k.

Any help appreciated before I splash the cash up the wall.

I am gonna stick my nexk out and say stick with Shuttle originals and not clones. Theres nothing wrong majorly wrong with the clones but you simply can't beat a Shuttle.

If its P4 you want, try this (http://www.tekheads.co.uk/web/product?product=602766) badboy. Note the 250W power supply, vital for your Radeon.

If I had the cash I would be going for this (http://www.tekheads.co.uk/web/product?product=602452) fancy little number, but thats because I am AMD through and through, problem is the 64bit chips are still expensive.

Thats a bit sexy, im gonna price up a chip and some RAM with it now..... Can you get them without onboard VGA?

No, your own card will automatically disable the onboard ****e.

For max performance, get yourself a nice sound card and disable to onboard stuff, frees up some resources, but costs you your front ports.

So, this shoudl shift then. If I have my 9800 and dogs sound card in it, 1Gig RAM and 3Ghz+ processor it should go some? How would it be compared to desktop?

The soundcard was only a suggestion, I would stick with your onboard card until you get a top of the range one (you prob would not even need it), I am using my onboard sound card with no problems.

Technically a Shuttle is a desktop, just small form factor, so comparing them should be like comparing two desktops.

Cool, just want something for games only, if you know what I mean. Going to spec it today. Cheers! |worker|

These shuttle's look cool.

Finished building my dedicated games machine last week, I have the following:

ASUS SK8V - VIA K8T800 Motherboard
1GB Registered Corsair ECC DDR SDRAM PC-3200
GeForce™ FX 5950 Ultra 256MB 8x AGP
320GB Seagate Barracuda Serial ATA 7200rpm (2x160GB) - RAID 0

Far Cry runs smooth as silk with everything set to Very HIGH.
