This was revealed to me last night in all its glory.
After Ray saying he heard a group playing Hotel California I dug about a bit.
If you check your mydocuments/LOTRO you should have a folder in there called Music - if not create one.
Then visit a LOTRO music site - such as http://lotro-music.com/
Download the zip file - put the .abc file in the music folder. The files I have were all called something like f310.abc which I renamed for example to hotel.abc - makes it easier to remember what to type in game.
In game equip lute/clarinet/harp whatever.
/music
/play songname
and off it goes
