I have been looking into it, hosting is my main problem I have some webspace but I think it will probably get shut down when I start using it for hosting game files I will give it a try, if it works then its just a case of getting the hosting sorted.

Ok will someone please point me at the muppets who decided that using no compression for downloadable map files would be a good idea. These map files are about 80% bigger then what they need to be.

Just played this one:

And thought it was good.

I'd be happy to add it to the rotation myself, but I'm not learned in the way of Steam servers. I would be happy to learn if someone could teach me using vent sometime. Or point me at a webpage to read from (PM me the relevant passwords etc..). Going to see what I can find on the web myself later.

Anybody else played a good map?

The screenie of the map looks nice very in keeping with the TF2 theme, the problem with the custom maps is hosting, the maps do not use any compression so they are big around 60-80meg for some files. The bandwidth to host this is huge, I have turned our custom map server off from the logs it didn't seem to be getting much use and I was starting to get arsey emails from my webspace provider for the bandwidth that I was using.

If there is a popular demand for custom maps I will sort out some more hosting and get the server back up and running and sort out some more hosting.

On a side note the main server is updated and back on.

60-80 megs for a map does sound a little awkward. tbh the TF2 server doesn't get that much use anyway (except for some evenings for practice - I could be wrong though). I'm happy for it being as it is atm. If I have a little more time I might go searching for a good webspace provider. Anyone with a good suggestion?
