Anyone have any good suggestions on where to get one before xmas? Apparently stock is already fubar and is likely to stay that way on the lead up. All you can get is the £260 plus units from private sellers.

I've signed up to a couple of Wii stock sites already.

Gamestation were really good for getting me mine when stock came in. But if I were you, i'd pre-order with Amazon. They are bound to get stacks in!

Looks like we *might* have got one! There are a couple of those Wii order sites and one of them gives desktop pop-ups when they are in. Managed to secure one from Game by the looks of things!

Also bought the kids a DS Lite each so looks like it's gonna be a real geeky Christmas! |devil2|

I got my Wii from Tesco, now its all that my son will play, he loves it. Im toying with the idea of a 360 - they aren't 199 on play anymore are they?

Bought for the 'kids' eh Stef? |beer|

Seriously though they are a lot of fun, I had a go at Big Brain Academy a while ago which is pretty nuts. Did you pick up any extra remotes and nunchucks? Might be worth buying a component cable if you running it on an HDTV (and it has the correct inputs of course).

*cough* yeah!

Nah don't have much yet. Apparently buying Wii play is the best way to get a second remote (£30 for a game thats 9 games plus the remote). I'm going to open it up tomorrow and see what you get in the box.

Wow - thats the lamest excuse i've heard yet, for using your kids christmas present! :)

Consider buying Smooth Moves for it too. It's quite funny and lots of gameplay for kids.

We've always opened & tested their presents for as long as I can remember. This was after a main xmas present not working a few years ago. An inconsoleable child (see what I did there? |drums|) on xmas day is a bloody nightmare!

Wii best used after the kids are in bed .....with several bottles of wine thrown in!!! great fun!! just make sure you put the games back in the right boxes or the kids will get suspicious. |angel|

Inconsolable yes. But you also teach them the important lesson of 'disappointment' which they will see many times through life! |devil3|

Necrothreaded.

My wife wants one of these badly and getting one in Calgary is extremely unlikely.
However, people underestimate how far I'll go to get what I want.
I found out when Futureshop (Canadian equivalent to Dixons etc) was having them, this turned out to be last Friday morning, however they did advise that you turn up early ie 8am to get a ticket securing yourself a console then going back later in the day to pick it up and pay.

My plan? Turn up at 6am.
I turned up just as the employees turned up. It was dark. Snowy. And -28 in Temperature.

I froze my knackers off. But at 6:45 they came out to me because they felt sorry for me and let me claim one there and then. Winner!

Even better. the cost of one of these on the street for me was $269 which is equal to 130 quid.

Over the moon.
