Battlefield 2142 - Wicked!

Tonight is the first night i've been playing this properly and I must say I had a spiffing time! Mainly due to the wicked laffs me, Arwyn and Phil we having. Some funny shiat! Playing as a team really makes this game and we we're actually doing some serious ownage if i'm any judge! The 3am finish says it all I think. Haven't done one of those for a while! Get with it all!!!

Got 5 unlocks tonight, so can't be bad!

Was just a random thing! I was sitting in the Bf2142 channel on my tod when Phil joined my server and joined TS and then Arywn came in later. You'll always do much better playing in a squad on comms so we'll show em who's boss!

Well i've only started playing this today and i must admit i'm hooked. I played the beta version at the lan last year and i thought it was poop, but after buying the full monty, bring it on. I've had about five unlocks and i need more...
Had a few laughs playing it for the first day, hope there is more. As Gypo would say "get off my land" and i say "no"

Ok Jt lets find a resonable server tonight with a mix of titan and Conquest lets try a biger server and play as a squad and see if that will do the trick .
we got some good players buy the looks of it you should be able to get a few unlocks reall easy.

If you can play that UO junk game then you should be good at 2142 its the same F@cking thing sept w@y better

Also, can someone explain what Titan is all about. Am I capturing points or am I capturing a big spacecraft?

Global Score and Career Points
Battlefield 2142 introduces a new system, the Career Points. The global score is what everyone is used to from Battlefield 2, all the points you make by kills, team actions and capturing points. These have been altered a bit (see below). New is the career points.

Career points are based on global score. So if you make 10 global score in a round, that counts towards your career points. On top of that come the awards. Each award (with the exception of medals) give you additional career points. As ribbons and badges can only be gotten once, the pins get a very important position here. You can get most pins multiple times in one round, which can increase your career points extremely.

Your rank is depending on the career points, not on your global score. So if you make 10 points by normal playing as global score, and get an award worth 10 career points, you will have a total of 20 careeer points from that round. This way your rank will increase a lot faster (and get you more unlocks) if you get the awards.

Commander Score
Winning Commander Average team score x2
Losing Commander Average team score -50%

Score Limits
There are score limits in the game for player actions. The Titan weapons limit is a count of wepaons, so you can only get points for destroying weapons and repair points for repairing weapons, not more than stated here. Every weapon you destroy or repair after that will not give you any points anymore.

* Resupply: 100
* Titan Weapons Destroy: 8
* Titan Weapons Repair: 8

altho i enjoy playing it - i find it hard to get a good score also, i think it might be coz im flying the transport plane and dropping every1 off but i still get alot of caps but i seem to end up with a crap score...maybe coz im only support?

Look its easy you dont get a good score cos ur cr@p No realy its about learning the points system like any game .
If your support give out those ammo box's all over the place even if you drop them down near a spawn point or doorway or path and somone will run over it and bingo u get a point,If your medic give out your medic pack to every one most pepole need one even if its only a couple of percent ,

I think for sarters you should go Asult cos its the best wepon for a beginer ,or suport i think these will give you the best points for your buck .Dont go Recon to begin with or go engineer unless you going to sit in the titan

As i said befor if you want a stack of points for nothing go engineer
and sit in the titain on a gun pod lots of point to be had there postion 1 at the front of the Titan is best as you can cover more ground that way .Dont relly on the gun site its only ok if the target
directly below you you need to site the site above the target.
you can easaly get 40 points in a round by doing that it is a little score whoring but you know you want that nice new shinny wepon.

You sure know what you're talking about Gypo. My tactic is to go around capturing silos using the assault kit then when their titan shield is down sort out my recon kit and start attacking their titan. You get 3 points a kill on their titan so camp it up a bit in the overhead sections and you can rack up a decent amount of points. It usually works and i get at least 30+ every round if it does.

My tip is to play the bots for a while. I played them on and off for a couple of days to get it all learnt. Practice flying the aircraft and try out all the classes to see which you find best. I liked assault on BF2 but I really like supply on this one as you can actually hit something with the guns now! Also with assault I normally empty the clip before I hit an enemy soldier, with supply I can just spam and hope they happen to run into some of the bullets! (Supply: The choice of players with reflexes of a bull elephant)

There are mods available that unlock all guns in single player (great for testing an unlock before you 'buy'!) and that let you play bots on 64 player maps if you really want to practice properly! (the unlocks mod is currently broken until he patchs for 1.20 though)

Ok, nearly-old Thread, but I have to ask seeing as how I'm looking at getting my FPS Mojo back: How does BF2142 compare with BF2. I ask because I'm a big fan of BF2 and think the bigger 64-player servers are great fun, just that after playing the demo I'm not sure what to think.

phill its better then bf2 once you unlocked a few gadgets your ok and flying in the helli's is much better then in bf2
just buy the freeking game and follow us to the bright side

This game is lots of fun, love the titan mode and the pod launcher thingys.

I played some BF2 when it came out, forgot how much the squad system adds to the gameplay..

B on as norm to play either playing a bit of Dcon at the mo but its not as good as the old version .

It.s a little laggy and the graphics don't stand up to well .

I installed BF2142 again last night and I just don't seem to like it as much as BF2.

I think it's to do with weapons, I much prefer moden day weapons.

And I like killing ragheads....
