Ello,
I just ran 3DMark 03 on my shuttle, and got 5122 as a score running with all default options in the program, at resolution of 1024 x 768.
What is a good score meant to be?? Cos it seemed lots of the demos ran at a **** framerate.
Cheers,
JT

Incidentally, how can I get the best out of my new card too? It runs fast in UT with everything maxed out anyway, but I want more!!!
Any tweaking pro's please feel free to tell me what to do!
Oh, and does the aperture size matter in Bios? It's only a 128mb card, and aperture is set the same.
Cheers,
JT

Your scores about right.
3D Mark 2003 is heavily dependant on your GFX card and your high FSB's, fast CPU & Tight memory timings make little difference.
It was designed to have all current hardware struggle so that scores will be consistant & accurate when the new kit turns up later in the year.

Give us the brand & model of the card. There's bound to be a revised BIOS which should give you some additional tweaks.

Leave it at 128, unless you have a gig of ram Then set it to 256.

Linkie (http://www.tcmagazine.net/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=5444) - Try these drivers. - There don't appear to be any perfomance altering BIOS's out at the moment, so only overclocking is going to help you at this stage.
Tec Connect is hosting a driver packaged labeled 56.82. While the package contains most of 56.82 it also contains some of the official nVidia 56.64 files as well. As you can see this was intended for a laptop release. A little note: All laptop drivers are based off a reference version. The only difference is that the driver is geared for power management as well as just tackling the display of the laptop. So don't worry to much about it. I've read some websites saying that they caution ya to use them just because they can't find the source! Hehe. As long as it has no virus no real harm will happend. So if you feel you want to try this package the scoop is below:
Beta WinXp & Win2k Forceware Driver
v56.82
Date: Mar 16, 2004
Size: 20.63Mb
Release Notes:
* The drivers come with a self installer setup.exe file
* All nVidia cards are supported in this release
* All languages are supported in this package
* Files are a mix between 56.64 and 56.82
* Created from a laptop version
* Files are dated: Feb 12, 2003
* WinZip Packaged
Or some altered official nVidia's Take a look (http://www.omegacorner.com/index_nvidia.html)
i've got a gigabyte Radeon 9700 pro 128 MB
Your 9700Pro hasnt got any tweaks that I can find, Unless you try some Omega drivers or overclocking. Clickie (http://www.omegacorner.com/index_ati.html)

I tried the following also with 3D Mark 03....
1280 x 1024
All filtering off
score: 3982
1024 x 768
4 Sample AA
Anisptropic on (4 max)
Score: 2818
OK, so can someone tell me wtf diference 4 sample AA and anisotropic filtering make?
Cheers,

AA & AF help to clear up the image that's displayed, but eat's a helluva lot more system resources.
Try putting it on 4xAA and 8xAF, and playing a game, not benchmarking. See if you notice the difference.

That sounds like the 60fps limiter which is standard in CoD is still active.
but for gaming purposes it depends on the rest of the specification, have you a higher specced PC?

I got far cry at the weekend. It looks fantastic and am in the process of playing it through, but it does only use 'medium' settings for almost all of the GFX options.
This works perfectly, unless you're high up on the island somewhere - there is a slight degree of slowdown when lots of trees are on the screen, but it rarely happens.
When next gen cards come out, am gonna play it through again cos it's a ****-hot game
