Hi guys and gals,

I know we have done this before BUT....

I have sort of updated my machine... 2GHz, 650MB RAM, 128 MB Nvidia GeForce FX5200...

CoD plays ok, however, when i get into a sizeable battle i get jumpy responses and get killed (not suprised!)...

When i had my old system, 1.8GHz, 512MB & 64MB card the whole thing ran a load smoother... The RAM in my new machine are two different speeds 2100 & 2700, i am going to remove the 2100 and see how that goes... other than that anyone got any ideas ???

I have also ran that ReForce program but dont know the commands in CoD and also cannot find that thread anymore...

Please Help :)

Cheers
Matt

5200 cards aren't blazingly fast, have you got your fps counter visible in-game? Also the 2100 memory will slow down the 2700, the memory will always run at the slowest sticks speed, get yourself another 2700 stick and you should see improvement there.

Also check how fast your monitor refresh rate is running and put in some more coal into the back of your PC! :p

I know, i know... i need to get a phatter processor... it maybe on the cards....

I am not sure how to get the fps showing on my screen, the monitor is set to 100MHz.... i wonder if i can flog the card to someone else....

Any ideas of a good nice and fast card and ball park price ?

Cheers

GeForce 5900XT are a good price (around £150) except mine was f*cked when it arrived! Apparently quite a nice card tho.

Remove all of your graphic drivers and install the lastest one. I had this problem no so long ago - mine stinks along now.

apparently the geforce fx 5200 runs slower than the geforce 4 ti 4400 even tho the 4400 is like 2 models back!
What card did you used to have?

in console type cg_drawFPS "1"

0=off, 1=basic, 2=advanced

The 5#00 series is only a slighy beefed up 4#00 series with DX9 support. And the 5200 is the equiv of a 4200. The 4400 does not have a DirectX9 equiv.

The Ti's are one generation behind the FX's.

Ouch - That's unlucky.

After you asked me I noticed that E-Buyer had the Radeon 9800XT 256mb marked on their site for £85!!!

This was 7am as the site was updated, They have honoured the first few order's, as it's a horrible mistake. They where promptly put back to £285.

My mate was one of the lucky few who got his, but he managed to order 7. I now have one for my A64 setup

right - 3 post's in a row will do me for this thread...

first of all get rid off the old drivers and reinstall the new drivers

then go to the settings for your card and put the open gl to the 3/4 instead of middle that should do it for the game
