Guys,

Just want to get your input on using key binds in CoD, do any of you use them?

Is using key binds essential to making you a better player?

I was thinking of doing one that throws a grenade then gets me back to my main weapon quickly. Are we allowed to use key binds on the {BA} server?

Thanks guys.

No, absolutely not. I don't use keybinding at all.

The only thing that is essential to becoming a better player is practise. If you don't use any aids along the way, you are automatically better than the next guy when a new game comes out which doesn't allow such binds etc.

It also demonstrates that you're using raw skill - which is rare these days!

I understand and agree practise does make perfect.

Thanks JT.

Scripting is quite a complicated issue.

first off we all use scripts in any game we play.....

You dont bring down the console and type +attack to fire a weapon.

You dont type +forward to move forward.

You dont type +left to straf left.

Therefor we need scripts to even move around in the game.

Now when it comes down to certain scripts say a prone jump script which allows you to in a way bunny hop and gather speed in game to get to a certain point on the map at a quicker pace, is an advantage over the next player. Also there is a bug in the game regarding prone "thus any script associated with it can be regarded as an advantage!"

When it comes to certain script's like going into a game and u decide which team you want to go on and a script automaticly selects a pre-defined gun of your choosing then that is fine as any player can do so and what advatange can be gained from this?.

Now onto a script which allows you to select grenades throw them and then go back to your previous gun or go back to your pistol, This in my eyes is legal!

!THOU! very cr@p as i have seen when using that exact script it doesnt actualy do what u want it to!

The whole script is just flawed.....When u press the bound key it will pause....Then switch to the grenades...Then pause...Then throw the grenade...Then pause...Then switch back to the last used weapon of choice. "it also has problems actualy throwing the gren in the direct u want to" (due to the ";waits" in the script"

Now the pause is actualy needed in the script by using the ";wait" Because if u have a script that does "+grenades; +attack; +prev-used-wep" Then the whole script will be run straight off and wont be properly exicuted. (dont hold me to that explination but thats was actualy happens :)

So in my opinion (Which ref our server is nill "due to it not being mine") a gren script is legal as it doesnt give you any advantage over the next player and if not done properly it will fux0r up any way :)

Well Thats my 2 pence worth :P

Pedantic fool. You know what sort of scripts he's speaking about - it's not team changing ones, it's the ones which give you an advantage over others.

Oooh Coldie. You're priceless. Which exactly why I wouldn't buy you!

:p

Opinion is always welcome Coldie.
As far as binding two or more functions together for gameplay the {BA} Clan stands firmly against it, technically speaking its cheating. As far as speed goes in games its a matter of finding some sort of configuration on your keyboard or gamepad etc that allows you to do things in the game at a quick and decisive speed. I got quicker at mohaa using a Nostromo Speedpad (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=2071&pcount=&Product_Id=107727) or a few weeks ago I upgraded to one of these (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=2071&pcount=&Product_Id=157024) . It takes a little bit of getting used to but for games that require a lot of buttons like Far Cry it can be murder trying to not mash the keyboard with your hand in frantic portions of the game. Get a speedpad and problem solved m8.
