I love this game, and love the squad concept of gaming, cant wait untill my clan gets enough people to start playing. Here's some ideas on general squad strategy:
Squad leader should always hang back as a long range fighter, in a safe place, but where he can still fire around his squad. Near an enemy flag is best, as you can unleash a constant assault on them.
Do not group up-- this poses too juicy of a target for tanks/grenades. All angles should be covered -- you never know when some sneaky sniper is lining up a shot...so the 2 guys in the back should be looking behind constantly... and any enemies that appear should be spotted first, shot second. they should walk as a loose knit group, about 20 or so feet apart, taking cover and firing on targets as other sprint to better cover, or closer to objective.
heavy classes in front (at least 3 or 4 of them 2 assaults/AT with 1 support) -- with medics behind, ready to defend then heal in neccesary. Remember, if he dies, you can take his pack and revive him. He should be throwing many packs down on the path to thier flag-- helps out the others coming in later greatly. Same if there is a support guy--throw down ammo alot.
DONT WASTE STAMINA it is better to walk slower to the flag, and have a half bar of stamina if, say, a big mean tank/APC comes rolling around the corner... be ready to sprint long distances to cover. Remember, the objective is not to be rambo, but make them lose tickets without losing them youself. No sense in panting down the road as your squad gets mowed down. Make sure it is agreed that everyone will run for cover, making AT shots on the way. It is very hard and aggrivating for armor to kill soldier hiding behind buildings, and popping out for quick shots.... and they dare not proceed forward, because then they will get one right in the ass http://forums.totalbf2.com/images/smilies/grin.gif
When capping flags, at least 3 should be in the zone, with others watching exits and spawns. The squad leader should be relatively removed from the fighitng, but where he can still make medium to long range kills. Cap the flag, then fan out and make sure there are no counterattacks coming, and also clear out any sneaky *******s who wait for you to leave, then re-cap it.
Pick your battles wisely! So sense in making a full frontal attack on a group one one tank and APC with soldiers all over the place. Instead, sneak around to the side or back, and pick off soft target guerilla-style, then proceed to harass vehicles with missles. Should put a damper in thier assault. Really, the main objective should be for the squad to remain intact while still gaining kills. As long as the medic is able to revive the few deaths that occur, your squad will be a serious asset, removing enemy tickets very rapidly.
Any healthy vehicles found (or smoking one repaired)should be immediately occupied, and become part of the squad. I know the tank/APC can go fast, but try going at the pace of the soldiers, they can use you for cover, and armor tends to be a GREAT distraction while the squad gets in a flanking position.
For the love of god, whoever's driving please watch for those little black discs on the road. Also, don't just go flying into an enemy base full throttle. Scope it out first to make sure you aren't driving right into a tank's shell.
If the squad leader dies and is not revived, he should immediately quit the squad, then re-join so he can spawn on the new squad leader. Then the new one should take on his new squad leader stay-behind tactics.
TALK TO YOUR COMMANDER!!! squad leader, tell him about juicy arty targets, and tell him to spot a tank that you missed. If you are obviously an effective squad, he will probably pay much more attention to you http://forums.totalbf2.com/images/smilies/grin.gif Supplydrops are a godsend when you have no engineer in your party. Ask him to drop one prior to entering an enemy flag. They can offer scant cover in an area w/ no cover at all.
Well, that's all I can think of now. Feel free to add your tactics, or what tactics you would like to see peope use.
