Question
I am encountering problems with cheating online.

Answer
Call of Duty does not include integrated anti-cheating software.

The most effective method of dealing with cheaters online is to call a vote to kick the offending player or join a different server.

so they are still a bunch of cocksuckers over there
what the fuck are they going to do with the cheaters then
i saw this question on the support from activision
shame they are not going to do anything about it though

so it looks like its once again down to the players who get so fed up that they invent their own anti-cheat, nice to know that theres more than once company who cares just as much as EA

I'm gonna remain confident that Activision will integrate Punkbuster into CoD if demand is high enough. They did it with Soldier of Fortune 2 and Wolfenstein, no reason why they can't follow up with CoD. But I'll be honest, if it turns out that they DON'T bother going down this path then I will pack in the serious match side of any of the online games because the annoyance just isn't worth it.

There is an online petition asking for CoD and punkbuster... It's looking likely that a CoD update intergrating it is due before Crimbo.

I Agree with Jodo I think they have no choice but to do an anti cheat asap after all this game had working hacks before it was out. Lets hope it doesnt turn out to be another CS.

No word as of yet at all regarding the anti-cheat OR the patch. All I know is the Infinity Ward have stated that they're looking into the best anticheat to use. There is a server/client program available however for CoD known as Serverwatch, and it does detect openGL32 mods. I'm looking into it.

I've just been to IWNation ansd this is the latest on the patch/ Anticheat side....

"Ah yes, finally some more word from Activision/IW. No, the patch/Anti-Cheat stuff isn't released...but at least you guys aren't in the dark 100% now.

I shot off an email late last night to Caryn Law, an employee out at Activision. Here was her answer concerning AC/Patch issues...

Hi Dave!

Unfortunately I don't have any information we can release right now on the patch. The guys are definitely working on it. We obviously don't want to release the patch before it's ready to go out -- hence why it's not been released yet. The patch needs to be tested thoroughly before release.

As for anti-cheat stuff, I'm hoping that we'll have some information we can discuss publicly on that soon. We're following very closely the community feedback on it so we definitely know how the community feels about anti-cheat stuff.

Thanks for the check-in; hopefully I'll have some more info for you soon!

- Caryn

So there's a basic rundown...

And, for those of you who seemed to have missed it, The guys are definitely working on it. We obviously don't want to release the patch before it's ready to go out -- hence why it's not been released yet. The patch needs to be tested thoroughly before release."

So at least things DO appear to be moving, for the moment we can enjoy the game on our server and admin it as we have started and keep on top of any cheats that show up.

Sounds good to me tweeeeekle.

It aint so much of a problem yet anyway, but it's gonna go that route eventually I think!

Some will remember (Jodo and TS probably) that we noticed some "impure clients detected" on the console the other night. Apparently this can be caused byu custom maps, so this will need some investigation.

Apparently sv_pure servers (ours is switched on as default) look for extra and modified pak3 files. This is obviously more than what we had with mohaa but the problem is it cannot detect the OpenGL32 mods. A lot of these mods have drop-down menus built-in and can be used to enable/disable the wallhack/foghack/esp (glowing skins) at the touch of a "hot key". The story goes that InfinityWard are looking at this area especially because the hack actually runs outside the game.

And there is a way for users who DO have nothing but maps installed to get around the fact that the server will kick em. I'm certain I saw it on InfinityWardNations forums, I'll get the info and put it here.
