I've had a couple of games of CSS but I find it a bit **** |toilet| , gameplay is the same, the new physics don't affect the game much (yay, shoot a barrel around) and you still have the same knobs playing.

I played CS from beta 3 (after following gooseman from action quake) to retail 1.6 but I really can't find much to enjoy in this 'update'. I know it was rushed but as this is the multiplayer side to HL2 they should've put more effort in.

Anyway I'm still looking forward to HL2 and it's just finished preloading :)

lol... I remember actionquake! That was really good fun at the time.

But I never liked CS. Ever.

I've got HL2 on order but I won't bother with the new CS, too many campers and cheats in that particular community. I did used to enjoy playing HL1 online though for a while anyway.

U know its going to be hacked to pieces... I might by it just to have something to play at lans when all else fails. Theres always a semi-full CS server.

Used to play CS way back (I've bored you all to tears with stories of my old clan). Left because of the rampant, blatant, maniacal cheating that had ripped the game apart. I've got no time for cheats full stop. I moved away from the FPS scene for a while before looking, briefly at DoD and then onto MOHAA. Hence my (eventual) rally to CoD ... now with a particular emphasis on CoD:UO.

I will likely buy HL2 if only for the SP - who can deny the atmosphere of the Single Player in HL. And my nick (coming from Crying Freeman - not Gordon Freeman!!) means it will probably always hold a small place in my heart.

I don't hold out much hope for CS this time around. It was destroyed by cheats and those same dog-t.i.t-w.an.king b.as.tards will likely do the same again ... I'm very sorry to say.

If I'm wrong and the attention of BA turns to it then I shall follow you all like the lemming I am. But as most of the peeps in BA have no history of the game (Brokengod and HaXo are the most obvious exceptions) I don't think this is likely. R.I.P. Go Go Go ... |lame|

Yea I see "Rome - Total War" appearing in x-fire every so often. I wont name and shame the offender.

Sod that, its Typhoid the sad git. JT I insist you disassemble his PC and mail the parts to fellow clan members.

Freeman
16th October 2004, 14:14
Yeah Tom. His comments did sort of follow that train of thought. ;)

Right. Listen up you knuckle dragging numpties. I'll have no more said about the piece of playable art that is Rome - Total War.
Having played (to death) Shogun - Total War and being similarly thrilled by the prospect of commanding the legions of Scipio to their ultimate victory over the Visigoths has left me with a gooey sense of anticipation. I haven't felt this way since a certain episode behind a certain bikeshed involving a certain lass who soon became my ex. :D

Just because it doesn't involve cooking off or keybinds doesn't make it a bad game. We all know UO is better. But allow us remedials to have a little cerebral fun. Every once in a while, some of us with an IQ that clocks into triple figures need a little stimulation. :p After which we can rest easy and seep back down into the quagmire of point-click-kill. ;)

Anyone who has a hairy-knuckled pop at General Maximus Silver is gonna' have to come through me. And a car full of pygmies. With sharp sticks. And Badgers. Lots of badgers.

Tom

To be fair Typhoid, I don't think Joint Ops comes under the same umbrella as those others as it is, errrm, rather pointy-clicky-killy.

But thanks for the reinforcements. ;) :p |sadeyes|

Well, the CS:Source ladders on Clanbase have been closed already, apparently Valve released the game with inbuilt cheats , its been discovered by quite a few individuals and so far theres no way of detecting em so the ladders went up and then came back down.
A good decision but a shame for the honest CS players really.

JonnyThunder

Baa ha haaaa haaa....

Freeman
17th October 2004, 14:12
Well.
That just reaffirms my feelings towards CS completely.
Valve never knew how to properly deal with the issue of cheating within the community. Any attempts they made to stop it were always half-hearted and never enough to stamp it out.

You'll always get cheating to some degree in a multiplayer game. UO will suffer it too. But CS was and is so saturated by it that anyone who gets more than a couple of headshots is branded a hacker and the person accusing is too often gonna' be right!

I don't have time for such games. Clanwars and practices are an investment of my time. I invest this time to get good at that particular game and then to feel a just sense of achievement if I get quite good. But someone who bypasses practice, wars and messarounds by downloading something is cheating me out of the time I spend with the game. I don't care about all that "cheaters are only cheating on themselves nonsense" and "oh, but you can't really enjoy the game by cheating, blah blah blah". I don't care about them full stop. They're cheaters. I care about my time and my involvement in a game.

I say fu.ck the cheaters. Fu.ck any game that bows down to cheaters. Fu.ck up any cheaters you might be lucky enough to corner in a darkened room.

And in the meantime let's get busy with a game that has bags of common sense and honest players. CoD and UO.

Game on.

I totally agree with Hunter (for once) - except I still think that the only reason he doesn't play CoD is cos he's total bollox at it!

Freeman

Your Avatar suits you well Gypo ... welcome to the DARK SIDE! ;)

I haven't played Rome yet. But having played all the others I know it's gonna' be great and (maybe) even better than its predecessors.

And anyone that takes a stab at Strategy games in general is just begging for a dig. ;)

As for Joint Ops, haven't played it in well over a month. Was good while it lasted but that game really lacks staying power.
Positives:
Really liked the fresh angle of the game
Liked the ideas it had; the many different gametypes; the vehicles that offered so much variety.

Negatives:
NovaWorld is f.ucking s.hit; slower than a skunk-smoking slug on a cold day. I'd find Solitaire more rewarding than JO know. Like a son who has wronged his father, JO is dead to me now. Joint Ops? ... what is Joint Ops? I have no Joint Ops! ... :D

Tom

having purchased rome total war today after playin the demo last nite i am not dissatisfied at all, typhoid u made a wise desicion buying it and it pisses me off ppl callin it rubbish having not even played the game, they just use everyone elses opinions and fixate it to there own, these ppl need to get a sense of uniqueness. and as freeman says he plays and get involved with what HE likes, its the same for me aswell, hence me playing counterstrike. I hope typhoid fits into this category of making our desicions aswell |beer|

Freeman u make some very good points and im behind you 100% on all you say. (in the hope i will soon be included with these ppl higher than a 3 digit IQ |thumbup| ) lol.
